OS2MIXER is a native OS/2 2.x application which enables the type 61 internode
chat in QuickBBS 2.80 Gamma-2 and higher. It will not work with earlier
versions of QuickBBS!
The recommended way to start OS2MIXER is with a DETACH command in your
STARTUP.CMD file, though it can also be run in an OS/2 window. There is one
single parameter which must be specified, this is a number indicating the
number of nodes you want to support. Unlike the DOS versions of MIXER, this
is the total number of simultaneous users allowed in chat, and may be lower
than the total number of nodes on the system. If you use a value of 0 here,
it will cause any previously loaded instance of the OS2MIXER to exit.
If you are running on a network, chat is supported on all machines whether they
be OS/2 servers, workstations, or peer-peer, or even DOS machines with an
appropriate requester! For network configurations run the OS2MIXER on only
one server, all other machines must define the environment variable OS2MIXER
to point to the server it is running on. On my system the appropriate setting
would be
SET OS2MIXER=\\STARBASE
Note that the double backslash in front of the server name is required, and
there must be no trailing backslash.
